Yeray Andres Pastor has been named the Sun Belt Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference on Tuesday.
Pastor received this recognition after winning both of his singles matches over the weekend while playing on Court 3. Troy head coach Rolando Vargas commented on Pastor’s performance, stating, “It’s a very well-deserved honor for Yeray. He showed a lot of composure and leadership this past weekend, especially as our only senior. We talked about how important it is to start a match strong, and Yeray was the first one to take on that role, giving us quick points on both days.”
On Saturday, during Troy’s match at Kennesaw State, Pastor defeated Leon Peranovic with scores of 6-3 and 6-1. This victory gave Troy its first singles point in a match that ended with a 4-2 win over Kennesaw State.
The following day at Samford, Pastor continued his strong play by defeating Santiago Arredondo 6-2, 6-2. These results brought his spring season record to two wins and two losses.
