After finishing a successful stretch of home matches, the Troy University women’s tennis team is preparing for two road contests in Florida this week. The Trojans will face Florida A&M on Thursday and then play against the University of Florida on Friday.
Troy has started its spring season with a 3-1 record and remains undefeated at home after a 7-0 win over Alabama A&M last Saturday. In that match, all six Troy players won their singles matches. Maria Guirguis and Leena Metwally each improved their singles records to 4-0.
Florida A&M comes into Thursday’s match with a 1-4 record, having recently lost 7-0 to Stetson. However, they earned their first win of the year just one day earlier with a 4-0 sweep against Edward Waters. Last season, Troy defeated Florida A&M by a score of 6-1.
The University of Florida enters Friday’s match with a 2-1 record. Their latest competition was during the ITA Kickoff Weekend, where they beat Ole Miss 4-2 before falling to N.C State 4-3.
The Trojans will play Florida A&M at the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex in Tallahassee on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. CT. On Friday, they face Florida at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville at 11 a.m. CT.
