The Troy women’s tennis team is preparing to begin its spring season with matches in Florida. The team will open the season on Saturday against North Florida in Jacksonville at 10 a.m. CT, followed by a match against Stetson in DeLand on Sunday, also at 10 a.m. CT.
During the fall season, Valeriia Avdeeva reached the Round of 16 at the ITA Southern Regional tournament. In doubles play, Sama Hindawy and Emilia Namyslo also advanced to the Round of 16 and recorded an 8-4 record for the fall.
Maria Guirguis led Troy in singles during the fall with an 8-3 record. She aims to build on her previous season, where she was named to the All-Sun Belt Singles Second Team after finishing with a 22-10 record.
Valeriia Avdeeva, another returning player who made the All-Sun Belt Singles Second Team last year, ended last season with a 24-6 record.
Troy will host ten home matches during the spring. The first home match is scheduled for January 30 against Bethel at Lunsford Tennis Complex, starting at 10 a.m.
Conference play for Troy begins March 8 when they travel to Atlanta to face Coastal Carolina at 10 a.m.
