Troy women’s tennis extended its winning streak to seven matches with a 4-2 victory over Arkansas State on April 4. The match also marked Troy’s fifth win against a Sun Belt Conference opponent this season.

The result is significant as it demonstrates the team’s strong performance in conference play and continued momentum late in the season.

The day started with doubles, where Maria Guirguis and Valeriia Avdeeva defeated Lilly Cvanciger and Carla Muro Castellvi, improving their record to 10-3. Hiba Heni and Leena Metwally secured the doubles point for Troy by overcoming Hanmare McAslin and Helena Bueno, both pairs winning by scores of 6-4.

In singles competition, Avdeeva claimed her tenth victory of the year after beating Cvanciger in straight sets. On court one, Guirguis remained undefeated at 14-0 by defeating Anna Grigoreva, also in straight sets. After Arkansas State closed the gap with two singles wins from Hanmare McAslin and Meghna Arun Kumar, Heni clinched the overall team win for Troy with a three-set triumph over Bueno.

The Trojans will next compete against Louisiana (Ragin’ Cajuns) in Lafayette on Saturday, April 11.
