Troy women’s tennis will play its last away match of the regular season against Louisiana on April 11, as the regular season nears its end.
The upcoming match is important for both teams as Troy seeks to extend its current seven-match win streak and maintain a strong record. With an overall record of 11-6 and an undefeated conference mark at 5-0, Troy has been led by seniors Valeriia Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis. The pair recently earned conference Doubles Team of the Week honors on April 2, reflecting their impact this season.
In their previous contest, Avdeeva and Guirguis helped secure a 4-2 victory over Arkansas State. They began by winning their doubles match against Lilly Cvanciger and Carla Muro Castellvi with a score of 6-4. In singles play, Avdeeva defeated Cvanciger in straight sets (6-4, 6-2), while Guirguis overcame Anna Grigoreva (6-4, 7-5).
Louisiana enters the matchup with a record of 12-5 under the leadership of Angelique Berrat. The Ragin’ Cajuns are aiming to recover from a recent close loss to McNeese (4-3) earlier in the week. For Louisiana, this game marks their final regular-season appearance at home on Cajun Courts in Lafayette.
The match is scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with live stats available online.
