Troy women’s tennis will play matches against Alcorn State and Nicholls as part of a road trip ahead of their conference opener, according to a March 14 announcement.
The upcoming matches are important for the Trojans as they prepare for conference play. The team will first compete against Alcorn State on Sunday, followed by a match at Nicholls on Tuesday.
Several players have contributed strong performances this season. Maria Guirguis remains undefeated in singles play from the No. 1 position with an 8-0 record, while Leena Metwally has achieved a 7-1 record in singles. In doubles, Emilia Namyslo and Hiba Heni lead the team with a 5-1 record.
Alcorn State enters Sunday’s match with a season record of 4-13 and is coming off a loss to Florida A&M University on March 7. The Braves earned their first conference win of the season the previous day against Bethune Cookman.
Nicholls recently completed a two-match road trip, starting with a loss to Stephen F. Austin in their conference opener before facing Northwestern State. The match against Troy will begin a five-match homestand for Nicholls that includes four conference opponents.
The Trojans’ match against Alcorn State is scheduled for Sunday, March 15 at the Pepsi Tennis Center in Lorman, Mississippi. They will then face Nicholls on Tuesday, March 17 at the Colonel Tennis Complex in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
