Troy women’s tennis secures fourth straight win against Florida A&M

Troy University’s women’s tennis team achieved its fourth consecutive victory on Thursday, defeating Florida A&M 6-1 in Tallahassee.

The Trojans started strong by winning all three doubles matches. The pairs of Valeriia Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis, Hiba Heni and Emilia Namyslo, and Leena Metwally and Alexia Zarate each secured a 6-1 win in their respective matches.

In singles competition, Maria Guirguis gave Troy its second point with a 6-2, 6-0 win on Court 1. This result improved Guirguis’ dual match record to 5-0 for the season. Metwally and Avdeeva followed with straight-set victories on Courts 3 and 2, losing only three and four games respectively.

With these wins, Troy clinched the overall match. The teams continued to play out the remaining singles contests. Sama Hindawy won her match on Court 6 with scores of 6-3, 6-0. Alexia Zarate claimed a victory on Court 4 after a tiebreaker in the second set, finishing at 6-1, 7-6 (1). On Court 5, Hiba Heni won her first set but retired during the second while tied at four games apiece.

Troy will have little time to rest before facing No. 24 ranked Florida tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT.
