The Troy women’s basketball team is preparing to face the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) on Saturday at Trojan Arena, following a significant victory over Louisiana. The Trojans currently hold a 20-5 overall record and are tied for first place in the Sun Belt Conference with an 11-2 conference record. ULM enters the matchup with a 13-12 overall record and sits eighth in the league after winning four consecutive games.

Saturday’s game is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be available to watch on ESPN+ or listen to via the Troy Sports Radio Network. Live statistics can be accessed at troytrojans.com/livestats.

On Thursday night, Troy defeated Louisiana 71-55, marking head coach Chanda Rigby’s 275th win and making her the program’s all-time winningest coach, surpassing Joyce Sorrell. This victory also marked Rigby’s tenth season with at least 20 wins and was the third consecutive season reaching that milestone.

Senior forward Zay Dyer set a new Division-I single-game rebound record for Troy by collecting 25 rebounds against Louisiana, tying the Sun Belt Conference single-game record. She also recorded her ninth straight double-double with a team-high 18 points in that game. Dyer leads both the conference and nation with her double-double count this season.

Troy previously defeated ULM earlier this year, winning 86-80 at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The Trojans have won their last ten home games against ULM and hold an 11-5 home record this season. In their last meeting on January 14, Dyer contributed 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Ashley Baez added critical free throws along with four steals and five assists.

ULM comes into Saturday’s contest after recent wins over Appalachian State, Georgia State, Buffalo, and Southern Miss. Against Southern Miss on Thursday night, Jazmine Jackson led ULM off the bench with a season-high performance of 22 points. Nikiyah Mays-Prince has been leading ULM during league play in scoring and steals, while Marcavia Shavers averages a double-double.

Several individual achievements were highlighted ahead of Saturday’s game:
“Thursday night was a historic night in Trojan Arena as the Trojans beat Louisiana 71-55. The win marked No. 275 for head coach Chanda Rigby, who became the winningest coach in program history, passing Joyce Sorrell.”

“Zay Dyer also had a historic night. With the absence of Fortuna Ngnawo, Dyer erupted with 25 rebounds for the Troy Division-I single-game record – her 25 rebounds tied the Sun Belt Conference single-game record.”

Other notable performances include Rachel Leggett joining Troy’s “1,000-point club” this season and Emani Jenkins setting school records for three-pointers made in both single-season totals and individual games.

Troy continues to lead its conference in several statistical categories such as assists per game (15.7), rebound margin (+13.3), defensive rebounds (31.8), offensive rebounds (18.7), total rebounds (50.5), scoring margin (+14.6), and average points scored per game (83.4). The team remains undefeated when being outrebounded by opponents within league play.

Additionally, “With her 25-rebound, 18-point performance against Louisiana, Zay Dyer extends her lead in the SBC and the nation with her 17th double-double.”

Troy ranks ninth nationally among mid-major programs according to recent polls and holds second place among Sun Belt teams in NCAA Net Rankings.
