The Troy women’s basketball team announced on May 4 the addition of North Carolina Central transfer Aniya Finger to its roster for the 2026-27 season.

Finger is joining Troy as the third transfer and eighth overall signing for the upcoming season. She will be part of a new class that includes Hannah Smith, Jamonica Chambers, Kiaya Davis, Kimora Hughes, Maliyah Meeks, Taliah Martin, and Tiauna King.

Head coach Chanda Rigby said, “Aniya is the exact player that we needed at this time. She adds skill, athleticism and experience to our roster. She is coming to Troy determined to make her last year her best year. She raises our ceiling for what we can accomplish in the upcoming season.”

Finger originally signed with Winston-Salem State in 2020-21 but transferred to North Carolina Central in 2021-22 due to COVID. After redshirting her first year at NCCU, she played in 21 games during the 2022-23 season and led her team with a field goal percentage of 48.2 percent as well as averaging a team-high seven rebounds per game. Her performance earned her a spot on the Preseason All-MEAC Third Team for 2023-24.

In subsequent seasons at NCCU, Finger continued to perform strongly on both offense and defense. In the most recent season before transferring, she averaged nearly twelve points per game and was recognized with All-MEAC Second Team honors as well as being named a BOXTOROW HBCU Second Team All-American.

Looking ahead, Finger’s arrival is expected to strengthen Troy’s lineup for next year’s campaign.
