Scott Campbell has been appointed as an assistant coach for Troy men’s basketball, according to head coach Scott Cross. Campbell is recognized for his achievements at both preparatory and high school levels.
“We are super excited about the hiring of Coach Campbell,” Cross stated. “He has a great understanding of the game; he brings great energy and enthusiasm to practice each day; and he gets along great with both players and coaches alike. I have no doubt that Coach Campbell will help make the Troy Trojans better than ever before. He is a great addition and complement to the rest of our awesome staff.”
Campbell recently served as head coach for the PHH Prep Academy girls team in Phoenix, Arizona, during the 2024–25 season, leading them to a state championship and earning the title of Arizona CAA State Coach of the Year.
In 2023, he also coached the boys team at PHH Prep after his tenure at Elite Prep Academy in Washington from 2020–22. Most of his coaching career was spent at Puyallup High School, where he led the boys basketball program from 2007–20. His time there included a South Puget Sound League Coach of the Year honor in 2020 and a sixth-place finish in the 2019 Washington 4A State Tournament.
Campbell’s career also features three consecutive Oregon 3A State Championships with Oregon City High School girls team (2001, 2002, 2003), and a top-10 state finish in Washington with Sedro-Woolley High School boys team.
He has led several successful AAU teams, including Overtime Elite’s Diamond Doves in 2023, and coached at Under Armour Rise Elite Sports Academy in 2022, where his team won the championship.
“This is an incredible opportunity to come to Troy and work with Coach Cross and the rest of the staff,” Campbell expressed. “I’m excited for a new challenge and the chance to coach at this level. It’s like a dream job. It’s really something that has to happen organically, and I believe God opened a door for it to happen. It is a blessing to be able to experience it with my sons.”
Besides coaching, Campbell has over two decades of experience as a high school teacher, primarily in physical education. A former collegiate athlete himself, he played basketball at Seattle Pacific University from 1990–93.
Campbell’s family includes his wife Brie and their three children: sons Cobi and Cooper—both part of Troy’s basketball program—and daughter Caia.
