Troy University’s men’s tennis team was defeated by Jacksonville State, 4-1, in a match held at the Jax State Tennis Courts on Saturday. The loss brings Troy’s record to 7-4 for the season, while Jacksonville State remains undefeated at 5-0.
Troy began the match with an early advantage by securing the doubles point. Sophomore Thiago Drozdowski and freshman Stephan Tavares Noale won their match on Court 1 with a score of 6-3. On Court 3, senior Yeray Andres Pastor and sophomore Henrique de Brito claimed a victory with a 6-2 result.
Despite this strong start in doubles, Troy was unable to carry its momentum into the singles matches. Jacksonville State’s players took control in singles play. Graduate Charlie Penman, senior Alin Fatu, and juniors David Krasner and Aman Dahiya each won their respective singles matches in straight sets, which secured the win for Jacksonville State.
The Trojans will look to rebound in their next match against South Carolina State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Thursday at 2 p.m.
Jacksonville State won four of the six singles matches that were completed. Several other matches were unfinished when play concluded.
