Troy University’s men’s tennis team achieved two victories against Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) in a doubleheader held Friday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The Trojans won both matches 4-0, marking their first home wins of the season and evening their record to 2-2.
In the opening match, Troy secured the doubles point with strong performances from Henrique de Brito and Ryusei Miyazato, who defeated AUM’s Guiseppe Bonaiuti and Raphael Pertusier 6-2 on Court 2. Luciano Alcocer and Thiago Drozdowski added another win for Troy with a 6-0 result over Harry McDonagh and Augustin Wallaert on Court 3.
During singles play, Ausias Martin Melo, Hiiro Sakamoto, and Drozdowski each recorded victories for Troy. The Trojans maintained control throughout, despite competitive efforts from AUM.
The second match followed a similar pattern. In doubles, Yeray Andres Pastor and Miyazato overcame Jami Savolainen and Guill Vedia Sanchez of AUM with a 6-3 win on Court 1. Drozdowski and Stephan Tavares Noale also claimed victory on Court 3 with a score of 6-2.
In singles competition during the afternoon session, Ryusei Miyazato defeated Guill Vedia Sanchez 7-5, 3-0 before the Warhawks forfeited as Set 2 concluded across all courts. This secured Troy’s final victory of the day.
Troy will return to action Tuesday morning for another doubleheader against West Alabama at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, with matches scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
