The Troy University men’s golf team finished in fourth place out of 11 teams at the Memphis Intercollegiate held at Colonial Country Club, according to a March 31 announcement.

The result marks a strong showing for the Trojans, who overcame several teams that had previously bested them this season. Before this event, Troy was 2-12 against Tarleton State, Illinois State, Lipscomb, Central Arkansas, ULM and Jacksonville State but managed to finish ahead of all these teams during the tournament.

Troy posted a score of four-over-par in Tuesday’s final round—second only to Wright State for the day—and closed with an overall score of +19. Tournament host Memphis won the event at two-over-par for the week. Wright State took second place (+14), followed by Eastern Kentucky (+16) and Troy (+19).

Pablo Gracia led Troy with his second top-10 finish of the year after shooting a one-under-par 71 on Tuesday. He achieved his eleventh under-par round this season and eagled the par-5 eighteenth hole. Thomas Crane and Lee Poppell also contributed strong performances by tying for fifteenth place overall; Crane excelled on par fives while Poppell tied for second in total pars made during the week.

Other contributors included Haston Emblom (tied for thirty-eighth) and Lawton Emblom (tied for thirty-fourth). Individual competitors Pierce Becker and Landon Noble finished fifty-fifth and sixty-second respectively. The Trojans matched Central Arkansas as best in field on par threes at ten-over-par and ranked third on par fives at nine-under.

Looking ahead, Troy will travel to Kannapolis, North Carolina next week to compete in the Irish Creek Collegiate.
