The Troy men’s golf team finished sixth at the Mossy Oak Collegiate tournament, which concluded on April 14 at the Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi. The event featured a competitive field with three teams ranked inside the top 20 and ten ranked within the top 75.
This result is significant as it follows back-to-back fourth-place finishes for Troy, showing consistent performance leading into the Sun Belt Championship later this month. The Trojans outperformed several conference rivals, including South Alabama, Southern Miss, Coastal Carolina and ULM. They also secured wins over Kansas State, Memphis, Middle Tennessee and Rice.
No. 15 Ole Miss and Mississippi State tied for first place at 17-under par after Mississippi State rallied from nine shots behind. Vanderbilt and Alabama completed the top four team standings.
Freshman Thomas Crane led Troy by tying for 18th place individually after finishing even-par for both his round and the tournament. He made fourteen birdies across three rounds, tying him for fourth most among all players in the field. Lee Poppell and Pablo Gracia both tied for 23rd place at one-over par after solid final rounds; Gracia also tied for second-best cumulative score on par-three holes.
Other contributors included Haston Emblom who finished tied for 89th place after a challenging final round, while Lawton Emblom tied for 93rd position following an eighty on Tuesday.
Troy will next compete in the Sun Belt Championship from April 27 to April 30 at Annadale Golf Club in Madison.
