Troy University announced that its men’s basketball game against Akron, scheduled for Saturday, February 7, will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2. The tip-off has been moved to 5 p.m. Central Time and the game will take place at Trojan Arena.
This event marks the third consecutive season in which Troy has appeared on a regular season linear ESPN network. In previous years, the team’s road games at Arkansas State were televised nationally. It is also the first time since February 25, 2022, that a game from Trojan Arena will be aired nationwide; the last such occasion was against Texas State.
The matchup is part of the MAC-SBC Challenge’s second round of games. Earlier this season, Troy defeated Kent State in Ohio with a score of 103-97 in one of their five overtime games so far this year.
Currently leading the Sun Belt Conference standings with a record of 14-6 overall and 7-1 in conference play, Troy recently secured a double-overtime win at Old Dominion. The Trojans lead their conference in scoring (86.7 points per game), three-pointers made (10.4 per game), and assists (17.0 per game).
Akron enters the contest with a 15-4 record and stands at 6-1 in Mid-American Conference play. According to NCAA NET Rankings, Akron is ranked No. 54 and is Troy’s highest-ranked remaining opponent this season. The Zips’ only conference loss came narrowly against No. 25 Miami (OH).
Before facing Akron, Troy will play an away game at Georgia Southern on Saturday afternoon with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
