Troy University’s men’s basketball team will return to Sun Belt Conference play on Wednesday, facing Texas State in San Marcos. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Troy Sports Media Network.
The Trojans, with a record of 16-8 overall and 9-3 in conference play, recently secured a win against Akron in the MAC-SBC Challenge. In that matchup, Troy overcame an early deficit to defeat Akron 79–69. Cooper Campbell led Troy with 25 points—19 of which came in the second half—and contributed five assists without any turnovers.
“Cooper Campbell’s stat line on Saturday marked the 42nd time in college basketball this season that a player recorded at least 25 points and five assists without committing a turnover. It was just the second such performance by a Sun Belt player this year.”

Victor Valdes has made significant contributions at the free throw line, ranking fourth in both free throws made (122) and attempted (162) within the conference. Thomas Dowd ranks seventh nationally in total rebounds with 261 and is eleventh in rebounds per game at 10.4.

The Bobcats are first in the Sun Belt for steals per game (8.8), ranking them thirty-fourth nationally.

This will be their second meeting this season; Troy previously defeated Texas State 100-80 on New Year’s Eve at Trojan Arena.
Scott Cross is currently serving his seventh season as head coach for Troy, compiling a record of 120-95 during his tenure.
“Wednesday marks the second meeting between Troy and Texas State this season. The Trojans ran past the Bobcats in Trojan Arena, 100-80 on New Year’s Eve.”
After Wednesday’s matchup, Troy continues its road schedule with games against Southern Miss, ULM, and South Alabama.
Campbell leads the Sun Belt Conference with an assist-to-turnover ratio of three—ranking thirty-second nationally—and averages nearly five assists per game.
