Mauree Alice Porter, Tairrque Baker named Troy University 2022 Homecoming Queen, King

Mauree Alice Porter and Tairrque Baker have been named Troy University’s 2022 Homecoming Queen and King.

A native of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, Porter is the daughter of Frank and Jennifer Porter and is a senior communication major. She was sponsored by Kappa Delta Sorority.

“I’m so honored to be this year’s Homecoming Queen, but I think the biggest honor of it all was that I was able to stand beside so many amazing women,” Porter said. “It’s so great to be able to represent the school that I love and that has given me so many opportunities.”

Baker, a native of Lanett, Alabama, is the son of Theresa and Bobby Moore and is a senior interdisciplinary studies major. He was sponsored by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

“It’s an honor to represent this amazing university,” Baker said. “Shout out to my fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, for putting me up for the nomination. God is the greatest. I worked hard and I’ve been good to a lot of people here, so this is very rewarding.”

TROY Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Governor Kay Ivey, Student Government Association President Ava Carnazza and 2021 Homecoming Queen Deizah Holland crowned Porter and presented Baker with a TROY sword at halftime of the Trojans’ football game against Texas State.
