Students on the Troy Campus will have the chance to receive a little grace from the Troy University Police Departments on TUPD Ticket Amnesty Day.
On Thursday, April 28, most parking tickets will be voided in exchange for the donation of food and other items for the Campus Food Pantry.
“This is an opportunity for the students to save some money while giving back to their fellow students,” Chief George Beaudry said. “It’s a good opportunity for the police department to interact with the students to support a great cause.”
On Ticket Amnesty Day, up to five $10 tickets are eligible for voided fines, and donations should be valued at a minimum 50 percent of the requested voided fines. The program does not cover handicapped parking violations.
Items particularly needed include shampoo, conditioner, soap, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and new school supplies such as paper, folders, notebooks, binders, pens and pencil.
The police will be located in the Trojan Center Food Court from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for the event.
“We plan to do this one day every semester, and I’d encourage our students follow us on Facebook and Instagram for upcoming community events,” Beaudry added.
