Cost of college went up for all students at George C Wallace Community College-Dothan

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.8 percent for 2018-19 at George C Wallace Community College-Dothan, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Alabama residents paid $4,680 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $300 more than the $4,380 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 82.7 percent more than residents this year, or $8,550. Their price tag grew 7.5 percent from $7,950 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Alabama residents. And about 3 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 89 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 549 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.2 million and 19 students took out student loans totaling more than $110,230.

Including all undergraduates (4,610), 3,262 students used grants or scholarships totaling $21.1 million.
