FOIA Request to Enterprise State Community College Regarding Chinese National Students on May 16, 2025.
We, at Wiregrass Times, a media organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Enterprise State Community College. Our request seeks detailed records concerning Chinese National students currently enrolled at the institution.
Specifically, we are requesting:
1. Documents or lists identifying all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. If such information is protected, we ask for the total number of these students and a breakdown by department.
2. Information regarding any scholarships received by these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.
3. Details about recipients of scholarships from grantors affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council, if not already covered in our second request.
4. Policies or procedures outlining how the university monitors students—particularly Chinese Nationals—to safeguard the university’s Intellectual Property and other confidential information.
This request is made on behalf of Wiregrass Times and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As members of the media committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these records is vital for informing the public and holding institutions accountable. We also seek a fee waiver due to our role in disseminating information as media professionals.
