Faith Jones sets school record at UAB Invite; Koturenka wins men’s 800m

Faith Jones broke the women’s 60-meter hurdles school record at the UAB Invite in Birmingham, Alabama. She finished with a personal best of 8.48 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 8.51 seconds set by Monique Johnson in 2007. In the preliminaries, Jones ran 8.64 seconds to qualify for the final, where she placed second and moved to the top of Troy University’s all-time list.

Jonas Koturenka won the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:52.77, setting a new meet record and improving his own position on Troy’s all-time list from his previous best of 1:53.01.

Rachel Whyte competed in three sprint events: the 60 meters, 200 meters, and 400 meters. She recorded a time of 7.60 seconds in the 60-meter preliminaries and improved to 7.51 seconds in the final to place fourth overall. Whyte also achieved her season-best time of 56.83 seconds in the 400 meters and finished sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.48 seconds.

The Troy Trojans will compete next at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee.
