Ethan Forbes set a new school record in the men’s indoor 800m at Clemson University’s Orange and Purple Invitational, leading the Troy Trojans Men’s Track & Field team to a strong showing. Forbes finished first with a time of 1:50.11, surpassing his previous record of 1:52.96 set just one week earlier.
In other results, Travis Massey placed third in the men’s 60m final, clocking in at 6.82 seconds after advancing through the preliminary heats and semifinals with times of 6.85 and 6.80 respectively. Teammates Michael Eady (6.85), Tydreke Thomas (6.94), and Kendrick Price (6.99) also reached the semifinals in that event.
Pierre Boerkey recorded the second fastest time in school history for the men’s 1,000m with a finish of 2:28.87.
On the women’s side, Rachel Whyte continued her impressive season by qualifying for the women’s 60m semifinal with a time of 7.55 seconds and then posting a personal best of 7.50 seconds—the third fastest mark ever for Troy in that event.
The women’s relay team composed of Rachel Whyte, Kady Schwietz, Haley Wilson, and Zoe Smith achieved their season’s best performance in the 4×400 relay with a sixth-place finish at 3:47.64.
The Trojans will return to Clemson next weekend to compete in the Bob Pollock Invitational scheduled from January 30th to January 31st.
