Brianna Jackson, a standout player from the Troy Trojans women’s basketball team, has signed a professional contract with Verstärkt den sytainics MBC in Germany. The team is part of the European North Basketball League and includes players from America, Germany, and Austria.
Chanda Rigby, head coach of the Troy Trojans, expressed pride in Jackson’s achievements: “When I recruited Brianna, she told me that she dreamed of making her last year of college basketball her best season. She wanted to complete coursework to earn a Master’s Degree, and she wanted an opportunity to play professionally overseas. Brianna’s story is a tremendous example of what is possible when a student-athlete comes to Troy and takes full advantage of all the resources that are available here. She is leaving Troy with all of those hopes and dreams realized. I couldn’t be more proud.”
Jackson’s performance on the court was notable during her time at Troy. As a 6-3 forward, she started in 29 games out of 38 appearances, averaging 9.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. Her defensive skills were highlighted by her ability to block shots consistently throughout the season.
In addition to her defensive prowess, Jackson was also effective offensively. She scored over ten points in 17 of the last 20 games and led Troy in scoring eight times during the season.
Her contributions were significant during the WNIT tournament as well, where she had five games scoring in double figures and delivered a strong performance against North Dakota State with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
